TNT also causes mushroom clouds. Maybe a a bunch of wives blew up their husband. It is Utah after all.
Too bad it wasn't a nuke who would miss Utah. -

Bee D - I am very offended by this. I would miss Utah, because this is my home! Utah is NOT a dumping ground for nuclear waste, bombing and flat out ignorance! Just because there is desert here, does not mean nothing is living. The desert is one of the most vunerable places we have in America.
The community here in Utah is extremely progressive, and to tell ya the truth, there really aren't many polygamists either. They all fled to Canada, Mexico and Arizonia.
If you want a nuclear bomb to go off, how about you blow it up in your own god-damn back-yard, and leave us alone! It is ignorance like yours that we continue to fight every single day for our own health and freedom.

Yea either the 2000lb JDAM or a new MOAB. I would think people near the ranges would be used to this.

What a trip! OK.. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, and work as an anti-nuke activist here too. My partner, who also works with me is from Wellington Utah, where this happened. There is a lot of bomb testing going on in Utah, but it is mostly, and suppose to be in the West desert of Utah, not near small cities and towns.
Here is a conspiracy theory.. Maybe they are really just trying to fuck with my boyfriend, because the government doesn't like him much because of all the activism he has organized and been involved with... lol.. maybe they are just jack-asses. -

Lizzy-Q?
Can you or anybody from the area of Wellington estimate the direction and distance of these mushroom clouds? the explosions look large enough that the effects (craters - debris patterns - something?) should be visible in Google Earth. I see what looks like a fairly large quarry to the east of Wellington on the western outskirts of East Carbon -- my thinking is that with explosions that size - could they be trying to blow holes underground to lay a foundation for an underground facility of some sort?
I read somewhere that this area has a network of tunnels underground - near Wattis - maybe they are expanding those?
